What is a bollard?

A bollard is a short, sturdy, vertical post used to create a protective or architectural perimeter to control road traffic and prevent ram-raiding and vehicle-ramming attacks. They are primarily used to mark boundaries, guide traffic and physically block vehicle incursion, protecting people and property.

How deep should a bollard be buried?

The hole dug for the bollard should have a 6 inch gap all around, be 18 to 24 inches deep and set in concrete.

How tall should bollards be?

Bollards typically range from 30″ to 48″ tall, with the average height of 36″ or three feet tall. Bollards come in a variety of sizes in order to accommodate different purposes in different areas.

Do bollards have to be painted yellow?
